2022 Nissan Pathfinder Overview
The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will soon be upon us, and while new Nissan models often generate a great deal of excitement, the lead-up to this arrival has really been something else. The team at Lokey Nissan has received numerous questions concerning the updates and new options. It is important to point out that the new Pathfinder is still in the preproduction phase. That means that nothing is set in stone and all of the details provided here are subject to change. That said, this 2022 Nissan Pathfinder review seeks to answer the most common questions with information that is accurate as of this writing.

The new Pathfinder at Lokey Nissan will feature an all-new design that is rugged and modern and boasts all LED exterior lighting and heated power side mirrors. The wheelbase remains the same at 114.2 inches as does the minimum ground clearance at 7.0 inches. However, the length has been extended from 198.5 to 200.0 inches, the height from 69.5 to 70.0 inches and the width without mirrors from 77.3 to 77.9 inches. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels are standard, and wheel sizes as large as 20 inches are available. There is no word yet whether the Rock Creek edition will return or be replaced.
Interior - 2022 Nissan Pathfinder
Our location serving Clearwater Tampa Wesley Chapel Florida will offer the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with both eight- and seven-passenger seating. The seven-passenger configuration will have captain’s chairs in the second row. Nissan has made legroom improvements in all three rows. Specifics are not yet known, but you can expect more than 42 inches in the front row, more than 42 inches in the second row and more than 31 inches in the third row. Nissan has also bumped up the dedicated cargo space, which is more than 16 cubic feet in the current model. The standard 8-inch infotainment system has been updated as well, and tri-zone automatic climate control and USB ports for all rows are standard.

The new model will continue the practice of providing front-wheel drive as standard equipment and offering all-wheel drive as an option with all trim levels. The AWD system has been improved for the new model and now features seven selectable modes to dictate traction and other performance characteristics. Powertrain is no doubt one of the more intriguing aspects of any 2022 Nissan Pathfinder review, and there are some notable updates to discuss. The first is that Nissan continues forward with the nine-speed automatic transmission as opposed to the continuously variable transmission. Nissan has made a number of refinements as well. The new model will also continue to use the 3.5-liter V6 that is under the hood of the current. It currently makes 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet, and we do not yet have access to the updated numbers. We also expect maximum towing capacity to be 6,000 pounds.

All models have a landscape-oriented 8-inch touchscreen that is positioned partially above the dashboard for better visibility while driving. Nissan will also offer its ProPilot package, which includes features like adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode.

The redesign includes a new exterior design, an upscale cabin makeover and a more fuel-efficient powertrain. There are four core 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim levels available. These include the well-equipped base S, the up-level SV, the luxury-oriented SL and the premium Platinum, which features a HUD and other tech.
S Trim
All 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim levels feature a nine-speed automatic transmission mated to a 3.5L V6 engine that makes 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is optional with all trim levels, and with proper equipment, the base Pathfinder can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Standard driver-assistance technologies include cruise control, intelligent forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview monitor, a rear sonar system, intelligent driver alertness, automatic headlamps and automatic high-bream control. Standard exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps and power side mirrors with LED turn signals. Standard cabin features include tri-zone automatic climate control with filtration, an 8-inch center touchscreen and a six-speaker audio system.
SV Trim
The second of the available 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim levels opens up the option for an enhanced transmission cooling system that allows for towing up to 6,000 pounds. It also expands the driver-assistance package with blind-spot intervention, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. Upgrades for the exterior include heated outside mirrors and black roof rails. This trim features a remote engine start and climate control system. The cabin is upgraded with a power driver seat with power lumbar, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot.
SL Trim
The third trim level adds integrated navigation, a 360-degree rearview monitor and front and rear parking sensors, and the smart cruise control system is upgraded with traffic sign recognition. Upgrades for the exterior include LED fog lamps, silver roof rails and a power liftgate. Cabin enhancements include leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, HomeLink, rear sunshades, a power passenger seat and brushed Gun Metallic interior trim. The infotainment system is upgraded with a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and the included options of NissanConnect and satellite radio.
Platinum Trim
The Platinum is the ultimate 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. It includes the enhanced transmission cooler so that you can tow up to 6,000 pounds out of the box. It features 20-inch machine-finished aluminum wheels and larger all-season tires than are included with the other models. The exterior is enhanced with power-folding side mirrors with a reverse tilt-down feature, a motion-activated power liftgate and additional chrome accents. Cabin enhancements include a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an ambient lighting system and a 120-volt AC power outlet in addition to the two 12-volt power outlets that are standard. Cabin enhancements include quilted leather upholstery, heated second-row captain’s chairs with a center console, a memory system for the driver seat and side mirrors and brushed Bronze Metallic interior accents. Other enhancements include a fully digital dashboard, a head-up display and a premium Boss audio system with 13 speakers and dual woofers.
